why do i always stall at 89% ? have tried uninstallling and installing have tried

hi, am fairly computer literate so am perplexed why the program keeps stalling at 89% every time. i convert with the t@b media encoder first. then try opening files. but every time sticks at 89%.
have tried reinstalling. have tried other avi converters. am not using copywritten material.
am on vista though. amd dual processors and 2 gig ram.
am musician and trying to make my own music video from raw footage.
anybody know how to solve this problem?

why do i always stall at 89% ?

Hello,

For several years I gave help to others with Microsoft Movie Maker. I eventually got fed up of Microsoft not fixing some of the their basic problems and gave up on the whole thing.

With Movie Maker the solution to your problem almost always resolved to a Codec issue. This was not directly a fault of Movie Maker, more the offending codec. The fault was usually that the codec causing the trouble was old and had an interface that was not acceptable. Usually getting the latest version of that codec solved the problem.......

However, if you dont know which codec it is, or if you are not sufficiently capable of dealing with software at that level you were stuck. I provided a solution in the form of a program called Rename Codecs.

RC is a small utility that searches for and allows you to select and TEMPORARILY rename offending codecs. After you have used your main program you use RC again to auto restore the codec names thus re-enabeling them. The effect of all of this is that the Video program will use codecs that remain available. In most cases (with regard to Movie Maker) this solved the problem.

This approach is technically not the best. The best method being to de-register the codecs. Most of the users who use RC are I am afraid apt to pull the plug at any moment and messing with the registry is the last thing you might want to teach these people.....The RC program therefore becomes the safest method.

If you would like to try Rename Codecs you can download it from my site...look for Downloads > Movie Maker. Whether it works for you or not...remember to run the RESTORE option after you have finished trying it.

Rename Codecs (RC) does not make any changes or additions to your registry...the install program simply creates a directory to store it in and an icon to run it...thats all.

If this is truly a codec issue I would proceed as follows...

1) Run RC and get rid of all reported codecs
2) Run the T@B media converter and create your file
3) load that file into ZS4 and see how you proceed
4) Run RC again and restore all of your renamed codecs codecs

Outcome 1 RC did not help at all....Uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs or simply delete it from hard drive

Outcome 2 RC did the trick. Great...use you T@B file freely, doubtful if you will need RC again for that particular file

Finally, some users have reported that they have not bothered to rename the offending codecs and that in their opinion all of their video software runs better. This most likely means that when they removed a program it did not clean up behind itself and their was therefore no program on the system to use the dated codec...consequently no problem.

I DO NOT recomend that you do this....use the RESTORE option.

Please make any comments you have in this forum.

Video conversion

Hello again,

From a thread on the other t@b website I have discovered a video conversion program called SUPER. If you have not previously tried this it might be worth a look.
