We've had the following user feedback from users of our
t@b encoder frontend: "When the output is viewed with other programs (WinAmp and Jetaudio) then the video appears to be upside down." We've checked several programs and run into the same problem also with (Real)Producer.
After searching for similar problems we found that output of zs4 beheaved simlarly in some other programs. In fact, searching the internet for "upside down avi" we found that the problem is quite wide-spread and added a "un-documented" feature to the
zs4 package for windows: a tabdec.dll codec which is configurable based on the executable file which loads it.
There are several programs which (indirectly) use tabdec.dll (t@b avi decoder). we've tested the following procedure with the Real Producer program for windows and it appeared to work.
- Find the location of the executable which plays an avi file (in our case "mjpg"-avi) upside down. We found the Real Producer Executable in the folder "C:\Program Files\Real\RealProducer Basic 10\". the executable file is called "RealProducer Basic 10.exe".
- Create a text file in the same folder, which is called same as the executable file with ".tabdec.ini" appended to the file name. In our case the file was called "RealProducer Basic 10.exe.tabdec.ini". This file was formated like any windows *.ini file.
- We added a section called [MJPG_decode] on the first line with an entry called "upside_down=1" on the second line and saved this as the above file name: "RealProducer Basic 10.exe.tabdec.ini".
Points of Note:
- The MJPG AVI Codec is by default NOT installed with zs4. When installing ZS4 for windows, make sure you put a checkmark beside desired codecs in the installation wizard.
- The *.tabdec.ini files can contain multiple [xxxx_Decode] sections where the first four letters indicate the fourCC code of the AVI compression (codec) and the '_Decode' portion of the section name is (currently) fixed.
