Quick question about what can be done with this package

I want to be able to load mini DV video files from two cameras that covered the same event.
I want to be able to synchronize the two cameras, then have the output video consist of shots switching back and forth between the two cameras.æ I want to be able to take the audio from one or the other camera, not nescessariy the camera that is showing at the time.
Is this possible with this software?æ If so great, I will learn how to do it, otherwise, please point me in the right direction.
I appreciate any help on this.æ This is my first attempt at video editing, I am experienced at annimation though.
 Thanks
Stephen

Live 2 camera feel

yes that is possible AND a lot of work.

Success will depend on using the appropriate file format (DV type II for Windows) so that you can use the audio tracks to precisely align the two tracks in terms of time. I plan using this sort of technique for a multi-camera live music video.

A good understanding of ZS4 will also be required. The learning curve is somewhat steep.

Two cameras

I also want to use two DV cameras, to make Tango lesson and exhibition videos. Is this software unusual in being able to use two sound tracks for sync?

If not, what is easily available in other editing software for comparison?

I am familiar with basic A-B editing in 16mm film, have done some very basic single-video editing, but never using sound. I have not yet seen ZS4, obviously, will the tutorial cover the topic?

Are both sound tracks visible along with the video? Or, do you have to find a sync point in one and switch to the other and re-locate the same point?

Thanks, Leonard F

Two Cameras...or any amount you like

Hello,

I do not wish to detract from this excelent software in any way, But, what you want to do can be achieved in quite a few packages...Take Microsoft Movie Maker (spit)

Drop the desired video onto the AUDIO track and forget it!!!

Drop the same file onto the video track and mute the audio

At appropriate points delete X number of frames from Video Track....X Frames at 25 or 30 frames per second gives you position and duration for 2nd, 3rd......nth other camera video track.....

Insert into area deleted above the section of video from other camera.....and make sure that the audio track is muted on the segment as well.

A not very professional approach would mean you do not even need to trim the video to be inserted first....you can trim it insitu.

The secret to all of this working exactly as desired is just one thing.....the Claperboard....OK, I do not necessarily mean literally a claperboard....but if you have one.....

Simply trim the start of all the video files to be used so that they all start at exactly the same point....everything else is a simple measurement from the start of the file.

There are other advantages in doing things this way....well one good one at least....but that would be telling :)
