installation

What ever happened to the full interface as for installation in the early version? The latest version ended up in my Documents folder. My PC crashed.
I do not like the banana.. don't know which end to use..my mouse bled. So if this is alpha and Beta comes later which end of alphabet are we..? Can anyone help to instal this great program correctly..Yes I have read the instructions..

alpha

the term "alpha" as used in our zs4 alpha release is consistent with a computer industry practice of labeling a potentially unstable, very first release of a program as "alpha-release".

the old zweistein v 3.01 was a "windows" program and was in the second stage (beta-release) when last updated.

zs4 is a completetely different program (also a video editor) which was designed as multi-platform application for linux, mac and windows. it installs itself into the home (my documents) folder on all operating systems because that is the place where a user of a professional OS is most likely to succeed with the installation due to security concerns. (not every user has authority to install to "Program Files" or "/usr/bin").

Change Program Location

You can move the t@b folder from the My Documents folder into a different one and run the program from there. You'll have to change the desktop icon and program menu links though to reflect the new location.

There is also a .t@b folder which contains the user data for the program . This one has to stay in the My Documents folder, to be used by ZS4. If you delete it, it will be remade as soon as you open the program again.

Crashing

i have started to work on the next alpha revision (v0.926) and am interested in the following.

which version of windows are you using? 9x based or NT based?

does a crash occur always (or mostly) at the same point in your interaction with the software. if yes, which point would that be?

this kind of information would be of assistance in taking remedial steps on our side.
