How to put clips end to end?

Hi - I'm an ex-user of the old zweistein system which enabled me to very easily stick several clips together, end to end, with some editing to each (crop rectangle, colour adjust etc). I find myself completely unable to do this with the new version.

I've imported several cips so that my project tree looks like

- MediaMixer
   + Clip 1
   + Clip 2
   + Clip 3

 .. and I've layed the clips end to end in the arrangement pane,  i.e.

<-----------MediaMixer------------>
<-Clip 1->
              <-Clip 2->
                            <-Clip 3->

The documentation suggests that if you select the MediaMixer in the project tree to make it current, and do an export, you should get the lot. I get nothing, and the MediaMixer in the arrangement window shows nothing. I CAN export the clips individually, although my cropping seems to get lost. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong, but cant figure it out. Help appreciated!

Does Preview work?

I had no problems like that - have you tried doing a low res preview? Select this in the Mediamixer

What do you mean by nothing happens - no output at all or does it output a blank screen or what?

Hi, and thanks for your reply

Hi, and thanks for your reply. A low res preview in mediamixer produces a few seconds of black screen. Nothing shows up in the mediamixer panel of the arrangement window either. Low res previews of individual clips work ok, however.

I still haven't found a

I still haven't found a solution to this, and having tried many times without success, I'm sure if somebody just explains to me exactly what to do, things will work. It seems to me that although my clips are shown as subordinate to the mediamixer in the project tree, no matter what I do, the software doesn't seem to think they are "in" mediamixer - i.e. the mediamixer preview area is just black.

Somebody please talk to me.... this has got to be a very simple problem!

Log me as another user interested in the answer to this problem. I have half a dozen clips collected from a newsgroup that need to be patched together into a single clip. And at least I cannot see how to do it. None of the tutorials show this. Other video editors show a time line and you drop the clip thumbnails onto it. But mediamixer doesn't appear to do this.

How to put clips end to end?

After a couple hours of frustration, I finally got this working.  After reading the tutorial I was able to figure it out.  Here are the steps I did:

File menu -> Get the Clip
import -> drag the green arrow to the project view
repeat until all clips are in the media mixer (I did this with 3 clips).
track menu -> under properties add #secs to each video to off set them
track menu -> under rectangles view each clip individually.  If you cannot see the clip in the top right screen then try hitting the opaqe or flip transparency buttons.  I was getting sound for a while and until I did this I didn't get any picture.
Finally view the whole clip looking at the mediamixer.  If you don't see the entire clip as you like it it won't come out well in the export.
track menu -> export

This seemed to work to take multiple clips and merge them to 1 clip.

That's it!

That's it!

It was just the opacity thing - I knew it had to be something simple, and thanks for taking the trouble to reply.

Seems strange that you have to do this on the new version when you didn't have to on the old one - it sure isn't obvious.

Anyway, thanks again. You solved my prolem at last!
